Hymnxhortation was founded on a single pastoral belief: that the Church has largely lost access to its own greatest treasure — the hymns — not because they stopped being true, but because we stopped telling their stories.
When you know that Isaac Watts wrote "O God, Our Help in Ages Past" during a national constitutional crisis, the hymn never sounds the same again. When you know that William Croft composed the tune ST. ANNE as organist at the Chapel Royal, those opening notes carry the weight of three centuries. History restores meaning. Meaning restores power.
